Nicole D. Woods is a dedicated professional with a passion for higher education, student access to higher education, and student empowerment. She began her post-secondary educational journey at Southern Arkansas University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. After working in various areas of Student Affairs during her undergraduate studies, she enrolled in the Master of Education in Student Affairs and College Counseling program at SAU which equipped her with the skills and knowledge to support students on their educational paths. With a desire to effect broader change in the realm of education, Dr. Woods pursued an Educational Doctorate in Higher Education and Organizational Change at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL. Her doctoral research delved into the motivations of disadvantaged students pursuing postsecondary education in areas with low attainment rates, reflecting her dedication to equity and access in education.
Dr. Woods’ career has been marked by impactful roles, including her former position as Director of TRIO Upward Bound at the University of Arkansas Community College Hope-Texarkana, where she oversaw program execution, grant management/compliance, and budget management. Her dedication to students is evident through her hands-on approach, ensuring participants receive the guidance they need to succeed.
Dr. Woods’ commitment extends to academia, where she instructs graduate courses and contributes to research in the field. She has presented her work at NASPA and student access conferences, addressing topics of disadvantaged student motivations and the challenges of precollegiate programming during a pandemic.
In addition to her professional roles, Dr Woods’ serves on the ACPA Equity and Inclusion Advisory Board, actively promoting equity in higher education. She is also a proud member of the Nu Chi Sigma Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc which emphasizes her commitment to community engagement and service.
Dr. Woods is a lifelong advocate for student success and equity in education. Her journey through academia and various roles demonstrates her passion for empowering students and fostering inclusive learning environments. With a focus on higher education, organizational change, and student support, she continues to make a significant impact on the educational landscape which is why she created ENV Educate.
As a product of the encouragement of Earl S. Woods, Sr. and Velma Madison, Nicole D. Woods, Ed.D. strived to learn as much as she could in the field of higher education. Without that encouragement, love and support, Dr. Woods would not be at the point in her journey today.
